1. The origin of Christmas 圣诞节的由来

Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

圣诞节是用来庆祝耶稣基督诞生的基督教的节日。

No one knows the exact date of Christ's birth, but most Christians observe Christmas on December 25. 没有人知道基督出生的确切日期,但大多数基督徒过圣诞节在12月25日。

On this day, many people go to church, where they take part in special religious services. During the Christmas season, they also exchange gifts and decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe, and Christmas trees.

2. Introduce the origin of Santa Claus圣诞老人的由来

The concept of the American Santa Claus originated with St. Nicholas, who was born in Asia Minor in 280 A.D. He was known as a kind, benevolent man and indeed made a saint because of his generosity. 3. The custom of Christmas 圣诞节的习俗

4. Sending gifts to loved ones 给亲友送礼物

This tradition comes from the story of the three wise men who got gifts for baby Jesus on Christmas. Every Christmas, gifts are exchanged among loved ones, especially children. 5. Decorating the Christmas tree 装扮圣诞树

This refers to the tradition of decorating a pine tree using lights（彩灯）, tinsels（金箔）,

garlands（花环）, ornaments（饰品）, candy canes

（黑白相间的棒糖）, etc. Today, a Christmas tree is an indispensable part of Christmas celebration. 6. Making of Cribs制作圣诞马槽

A crib refers to the Nativity Scene that is prepared using small statues.

The first crib ever was made outside a church of St. Francis of Assisi for children to show them how the Nativity scene was like.

7. Distributing Christmas candies 分发圣诞糖果

This is one of the most wonderful traditions of all. Christmas candies are distributed to neighbors during the Yuletide season. On the day of Christmas, all misunderstandings and grudges are forgotten and the community comes together to celebrate the birth of Christ. 8. Lighting up the Christmas candle 点燃圣诞蜡烛

This refers to the tradition of placing a lighted candle outside houses during the Christmas season. A candle signifies hope

as it brings light even to the darkest room.
