VII Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Lead-in



Get the students to read the new words aloud and correct their pronunciation if necessary. Step 2: Read and Spell the new words 1. Read the words:



Present the new words both in English and Chinese, and get the students to read them out in English.

2. Spell the words: 

Divide the polysyllabic words into several parts according to their syllables. In this way, students can spell and keep them in mind more quickly and correctly. 

Polysyllabic words include violent, presence, gentle, harmful, puzzle, exhaust, unlike, atmosphere, theory, system, dioxide, nitrogen, satellite, spaceship, physicist, fundamental, etc.



【Intention】By dividing the polysyllabic words into several parts according to syllable, students can not only read the words correctly and fluently, but also spell them quickly. Step 3: Games: Who knows more words? 1. Game 1: Group battle:



Divide the students in four groups and each group chooses a button to play the game.



Give the students 5 minutes to keep the new words in mind, including pronunciation, part of speech and spelling. 

Player in each group takes turns to speak out the words before they disappear. If he succeeds, his group gets one point. If he fails, his group loses one point. The group that gets more points wins.

2. Game 2: Personal battle: 

Give the students another 3 minutes to consolidate the new words, especially the black ones and other words they can remember clearly in this unit.



Each group sends two students to take part in the game.



Player is required to speak out the words one by one. If he succeeds, he can continue the game. If he fails, he is out. The one who makes it to the end is the winner.

【Intention】In Game 1, students are given 5 minutes to keep the words in mind, and they should work in a group and take turns to speak out the words before they disappear. In Game 2, the students are given more limited time to consolidate the words and choose two representatives to take part in the game.

Step 4: Exercise & Summary 1. Ask the students to fill in the blanks according to the first letter or the Chinese meaning, which is designed to check the black key words.
