Step 1

Warm up

Greet to the kids and sing a song following the “From the head to toe”

T：

Hello, everyone. My name is Susan. I am a circus owner. I have many animal friends. Do you want to know them?

(Stick the word ”animals” on the board.)

To know more animals and review the verbs of action. Then describe them. Step 2. Presentation 1.

Lead in What animals can you see in the video?

Ss give different answers for the animal names.

They can…do lots of things.

(Stick the action words on the board one by one, in the column of ”can”)

Write animal names on the cards. T: Today I have a special mission. I want to choose 3 animals with special talent to add to my circus from your classroom. Are you animals? No~

I have an idea. EENY, MEENY, MONY,MOOM.

(Wave the wand to change them to be animals) Now, you are animals. Who are you? Write down the animal name you want to be on the paper. Ss choose 1 animal to write down on the paper, they will be animals to take part in the tasks. 3.

Describe who you are?

How many …are there in this zoo. What can you do? Can you … now?

Stand up pls. How many …are there? Ss: We are….s.

Step3. Practice Let’s go to the fun zoo. Know more about the animals. T: Well done, guys. Do you want to go to my circus? You have to pass 3 tasks first. Are you ready? 1.

Knowledge Task

Look at the picture. (Animal is doing something) Let’s know more about the animals. (Stick the word ”More about” on the board.) T: What is/are the…doing?

Now let’s go back to my circus. I will choose 3 more animals to add to my circus. Could you make new sentences using these words: arch—arching, clap—clapping, bend-bending…

【Teaching reflection】

本单元第一课时的教学重难点基本达成，由于课堂上一些孩子对动词的can do和is/am/are doing有时会混淆，所以还是教学过程中着重了第二部分的task，让更多孩子体验和表达重点句型The…is/are…ing.为了后面的练习完成做了扎实的铺垫。因此也为下一节课的教学重点设定了新的调整方向，在第二课时将会着重在阅读和语法练习上。
