Ask the students to find and underline the sentences using V-ing forms in the passage in groups and the analyze the structures of the V-ing forms Step II.V-ing used as the object

1. Ask the students to look at the photos and talk about the photos by using the V-ing form as the subject. Take the first picture for an example:

Example: Playing violin is his hobby because playing violin gives him a lot of pleasue. 2.Pair work:Tell your partner your hobbies and dreams by using the following sentence patterns. Doing…is my hobby/what I like most/my dream/what I want to do most because doing…makes/gives/brings me…

Rewriting the structure Example: It is necessary to get water from wet to fry places.

----- Getting water from wet to dry places is necessary. Ask the students to rewrite the sentences using the V-ing form as the subject. Check the answers. Step III. V-ing used as the object 1.

Show a picture of the cats and some phrases, then make the sentence with the phrases by using the V-ing forms Example: Cats like sleeping in the sun/enjoy eating fish/are good at catching mice. 2.

Ask the students to describe the pictures with the V-ing used as the object 3.

Lean some verbs followed by V-ing form 2.

A guessing game: Work in groups, and use at least three sentences with V-ing to describe one of your classmates or teachers.Other students will guess who he/she is.
