To strengthen Ss’ feelings about our traditional festivals.

Ⅴ.Teaching methods I’ll mainly adopt the way of direction, the way of conversation, the way of listening and speaking. In order to create a relaxed language environment, arouse the Ss’

interest, encourage the Ss to speak English, explode the talking topic, promote the Interaction between the T and the Ss, the Ss and Ss, I’ll use a multimedia, some cards, and arrange some exciting activities which not only make the Ss put their hearts in class but also improve their abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Listen to the song “Happy

New Year” and sing after it.

T and Ss say “ Happy New Year”. T gives some red packets to the students. (Teaching purpose:

Create relaxation atmosphere by singing and doing actions. Doing the actions is the foundation of presenting and learning the new lesson.) Step 2 Presentation

1. Listen to the song and present “ New Year”.

2. (CAI) Show a book and click it, then watch the video about Spring Festival. 3. Show a real book. There are many pictures about Spring Festival in it. According to this, T presents “ Spring Festival” and “ Chinese New Year”.

4. T asks Ss, “Do you like Spring Festival? At Spring Festival, what do we have?”

5. (CAI) Present the sentence: At Spring Festival, we have a big family dinner. T: At Spring Festival, what else do we have? Ss: At Spring Festival, we have fish/ apples/…

6. T writes down the sentence: At Spring Festival, we have oranges/ apples/ pears/ fish/ meat/ peanuts/ sweets/. T draws the pictures about the words. 7. T draws peanuts and sweets, and let Ss guess what they are. Then T takes out some peanuts and sweets, then says, “ At Spring Festival, we have peanuts and sweets, too.”

8. Practice the new words: peanuts, sweets. Ss use the sentence “ I like…” and practice.

9. Boys and girls have a race. In 40 seconds, how many students can get what they like.

Step 3 Practice

Ss take out the pictures they prepare and practice the sentence “ At Spring Festival, we have…” in groups.

T checks four pairs and they act it out. (Teaching purpose: According to this activity, Ss can say the new sentence more fluently.Pair is to develop the cooperation among the students.) Step 4 Game

1. Guessing game Let’s find out what’s missing. Ss must use the sentence “At Spring Festival, we have…” to say out the answer.

2. Use the sentence cards and let the students say more sentences. At Spring Festival, we/ I/ they have…
