Teaching important point: To get the main idea of each reading part and some detailed information about Ashrita and his activities. Difficult point: To have a deep discussion and understanding of Ashrita’s beliefs and qulities. Teaching method: Ask-answer activities task-based method,discussion Teaching aids: Computer, ppt Teaching procedures: Step1.Leading in Show students some pictures about winning the Olympic games and ask students what it feels like to break a record.

Step 2. Pre-reading Look at some pictures and go through the name of different sports activities and match them. Step 3 Reading Task1.match the main idea with each part Part1(1-3)

The brief introduction of Ashrita and his records. Part2(4-7)

Four of his activities and the difficulties when doing them. Part3(8-13)

How did Ashrita become a sportsman. Task2. Reading for details

Read para1-3 and answer some questions about Ashrita. Read 4- 7 to find the difficulties when doing the four activities. Read 8-13 to do some true or false statements

Task 3Summary Summarize the text with a short passage and ask students to fill in the key words. Task 4Discussion about Ashrita’s beliefs and his qualities.. Step 4.Homework.
