Culture Relics

Using Language 1.

Teaching Content The passage is about how to decide what is a fact and what is an opinion.

Teaching Aims Encourage the students to learn how to state a fact and an opinion in their own language by reading the passage Help the students find out the sentences stating a fact and an opinion 3.

The difficulties in teaching result from their poor basic English. 4.

Encourage the students to some useful words ,phrases and some sentence pattern,which helps them state a fact and an opinion in

English 5.

Teaching procedures Step 1

Lead in

It is raining hard. It is good to crops which need water, but it is bad to the students going to school.

(ask the students to decide which is a fact and which is an opinion.)

Step 2

Read and Answer

Encourage the students to read the passage to find out

What is a fact? What is an opinion?

Can you give a definition to them?

(using attributive clause)

Step 3 Consolidate their judging ability by doing the following

learn to use them from the passage

Step 5 Learning some useful sentence pattern improves the

students’ speaking

Step 6 Writing a passage improves their writing based on their speaking
