Unit 4 Wildlife Protection Using language

教学重难点：

以阅读、听力材料作准备，在写作部分引导学生围绕濒危动物保护这一话题，说出自己的想法并以书信的方式表达出来。

教学目标：

会表达自己的意图、想法

复习书信的格式，以及正式体和非正式体书信在称呼、结尾部分的区别。

教学步骤：

I. Reading 1. Lead-in :

Use a video about dinosaur to introduce the topic of the reading text – dinosaurs 2. Pre-reading:

1) Question: Judging from the title and the picture, predict what the text will be about.

2)Question: Can you guess what caused the dinosaurs to die out? 3. Reading comprehension 1) Find out possible reasons for dinosaurs’ disappearance 2) Decide True or False

)2 Dinosaurs suddenly disappeared about 65 millions years ago.

)3. Dinosaurs used to live only in China.

)4. Scientists have found out what caused their extinction.

Questions Since dinosaurs died out long ago, how can scientists study them? What is important for animals’ living ? How many animals and plants have disappeared in the last 500 years?

(Question: What would happen if all animals died out, leaving only humans?) Then use a video to show how serious the problem is, and ask students “Do you want to help”

II. Writing (Do you want to help) 1.

Brainstorm

What endangered animals do you know about? 2. Discussion : (discuss in groups of 4 ) What endangered animal do you want to save?

Why is it endangered? What will you do to save it?
