Teaching procedure Step one: Warming up

2. Leading-in: Enjoy the pictures of some wild animals (South China tiger, Golden monkey, Polar bear.....) Questions: 1.What do you think of these animals? (lovely, rare, precious, national treasure)

2. What is the current situation of the wild animals?

(They are dying out!) 设计意图：通过欣赏野生动物的图片，使学生深深地感受到它们的可爱，而他们目前的处境也引起我们的关注和思考，为后面的讨论做好了铺垫。

Step two: Discussion

Topic 1: Why are they endangered? Requirements:

a. Ask the students to discuss it in a group of four. b. Get the students to write down their reasons on the blackboard.

Rules: ①. One person, one reason (key words) ② . Don’t repeat them.

设计意图：小组活动可以达成信息的交流与共享，而让学生到黑板上写出相应的关键词，则更加直观明了。

T: It is obvious that more and more animals are in danger of dying out. They do need help but how to protect them?

Topic 2: How to protect the wild animals? Discuss it in groups. Ask the students to speak put their measures using a sentence; the teacher write down the key words on the blackboard.

设计意图：在学生小组讨论共享了保护野生动物的措施之后，让学生运用一定的语法和词汇把Key Words 用完整的句子表达出来，从而达到训练学生即时进行口语表达的目的。

Step three: Basic writing T: Just now we talked about the reasons why the wild animals are in danger of dying out and the measure to protect them, next let’s use the information to write a passage about “wildlife protection”.

Requirements: Get one student to write his/her composition on the blackboard and the other students on their exercise books. After the students finish their writings, we’ll do the following things:

a. Analyze the student’s writing on the blackboard, correct his/ her mistakes and learn his excellent expressions.

b. Learn the possible version, especially pay attention to the use of the attributive clause and inversion, transitional words.

c. Other stents correct their own compositions and try to improve some sentences. 设计意图：学生在两次小组讨论并全班分享之后，对野生动物濒临灭绝的原因及相关的保护措施有了明确的认识，因此，设计一个有针对性的作文，使其书面表达出来就成了顺理成章的事情。同时，更重要的是，通过对学生作文和范文的学习，使学生更加明确了高级句型（如：定语从句，倒装句等）及过渡词（如：therefore, in addition等），也对学生存在疑问的词汇如：as well as 和such as 后所跟词的形式，以及result in 和result from 的用法等进行了明确的解释。
