Teaching aims: To understand the story of this part, and Ss can perform the story. Teaching focus:

The head portraits of Zip ,Zoom，Zebra, Deer, Giraffe, Dog and Hippo; football; goal. 3.

Some word pictures of this unit. Teaching procedure: Step 1. Warm-up Sing the song of this unit--《My small cat》

Step2.Revision Review the words of this unit : younger, older, taller, shorter, longer, thinner, heavier, bigger, smaller, stronger. (1)

Teacher show the pictures ,Ss answer the words by groups. (2)

Make Ss say the original shape of the words by groups. Step3.Presentation

Teacher has a talk with Ss, and lead in the story. T: Do you like football? S1: Yes, I do. T:(Show the picture of a goal) What’s this? S2: It’s a goal. T: Yes, it’s a goal. Who is often in front of the goal? Yes, it’s a goalkeeper. Look! What’s happening there? Yes, someone needs a goalkeeper! Then, what’s going on? Let’s read the story. (2)

Play the story video and know the whole meaning of this story. (3)

Make Ss retell the story group by group，correct them if they are wrong. Then teach the key words and phrases: need需要，goalkeeper守门员，have a try试一试，centimeters=cm厘米，catch抓住，tallest最高的，neck脖子，reach够得着，teamwork合作，guy伙计，almost几乎，excellent优秀的

Play the tape and Ss read after it , then answer the questions: 1.

How tall is Mr deer? How heavy is Mr deer? 2.

Who is the tallest one? 3.

Who is an excellent goalkeeper? (5)

Check the answers: 1.

Mr Deer is 1.8 metres. He is 86kilograms. 2.

Giraffe is the tallest one. 3.

Hippo is an excellent goalkeeper. Step4.Performance Ss read the story again by groups. Then get them perform the story. If someone does very well, give them a star.

Step5.Consolidation & Extension Activity: I want to be a goalkeeper! 活动方式：

告诉学生：学校足球队需要一名守门员，请大家踊跃报名！介绍一下自己并说一说自己的优势。如：
