Teaching goals:

To learn the grammar focus--- the Present Continuous Tense for future actions. Teaching important points: 1. How to use the Present Continuous Tense to express a plan or something to be done according to a plan. 2. Use the Present Continuous Tense together with always/ constantly /forever to show the speaker’s emotion about a person. Teaching methods：Discovery learning and pair work Teaching aids:

Before class:

Make use of the time before the class by getting Ss to listen to a piece of music. (Two purposes:

1. to build up a relaxing atmosphere.

2. to teach some new words---Chinese Kongfu, Shaolin Temple, theme song, light music)

2. Let’s look at some sentences from the song.

I’m babysitting on Monday.

Q: What is the verb form? ( -ing form.) In what tense is the verb used? (The present continuous tense.)

Does it refer to the present? (No, it doesn’t.)

What tense does it refer to? (The future tense.) Step Ⅳ

Grammar: 现在进行时用法：

1．For future actions Read aloud and find out the rule: Betty is going to Guangzhou by plane tomorrow.

Bob is leaving for the airport by taxi this afternoon.

Jane is staying in Xi’an with her parents next winter.

Bob is coming with Betty to see her off tomorrow. 此四句是现在进行时代替将来时态，表示一个在最近按计划或打算要进行的动作，给人一种期待感。通常带一个表将来的时间状语, 但有明确的上下文时无须指出时间。动词限于移动性动词：如: go, come, arrive, leave, start, fly, get, reach, meet, see off, take off, return, return, travel, drive等，另外还有have do give spend play等。

Used with always/ constantly /forever to show the speaker’s emotion about a person. (与always/ constantly /forever等连用，显示说话人的感情色彩) Look at these examples:

She is always thinking of others first.

（比She always thinks of others first.更具赞美之意）

He is always talking big. 他总是说大话。

He’s constantly asking me for money. What a mess your room is! You are always leaving things about.

从以上例子可以看出，现在进行时与副词always,

constantly, forever, continually等连用, 明显含有感情色彩（赞叹，批评，抱怨等）。

Step Ⅴ: Watch a short cartoon to deepen Ss’s understanding of the above.

(When watching it the second time, get Ss to follow the dialogue in the cartoon) 3. 有时表示短期性、临时性、或一时的表现。
