2. Improve students’ abilities of listening, speaking and reading aloud. Ability Aims: 1.

Improve students’ ability of getting useful information while listening. 2.

Develop students’ listening and speaking abilities by asking and answering questions. 3.

Develop students’ ability of reading aloud by giving them some tips and instruction and doing some practice. Emotional Aims:

Develop students’ sense of cooperative learning.

Step 1 Lead in & Revision

1. Review some useful expressions in the passage “In search of the Amber Room”. 2. Apply these expressions to a short passage. Step 2 Listening 1.

Give the students some tips on how to get useful information. 2.

Students listen to the tape and try to get some information.

Step 3 Discussion Let students discuss what may be asked based on the listening material. Step 4 Role Play 1.

Ask three questions in English. 2.

Answer five questions in English.

Step 5 Reading Aloud 1.

Give students some suggestions on how to read aloud better. 2.

Practise reading aloud. Step 6 Homework 1.

Practise reading aloud after class. 2.
