Step 1: Pre-reading

T: Ok, boys and girls .Look at the pictures and then guess “Who is he / she ? What do they do ?”

Ss: Picture 1 , he is Yao Ming . He is a basketball player . T：Do you like him? Why ? Ss : ……

T: Picture 2, What does she do ?”

Ss: She is a ping-pong player .

T: Picture 3 , What are they doing ?”

Ss: They are playing football. So they are football payers . T: In these pictures , they like to do sports .Do you like to do sports ? Ss:. Yes . T：Very good . （设计意图：以运动名将图片的形式展现话题讨论，吸引学生的兴趣,为下一步故事的学习做好铺垫。） Step 2: Speed-reading 1.

T: Today I will introduce a famous football player. Do you want to know about him ?Ok, let’s learn a story about a famous football player.

Step 3: While-reading

1.T: Look, the little boy is Pele . What are the boy playing with?

S: A bottle . T : Why did the boy use boxes and bottles as footballs?

T: Have you got the answer?

T: Well, boys and girls. I find out the pictures of 1958 World Cup. Let’s look at the boy and his team . T: Now I’ll show you.（展示图片）

5. T: Now do you remember the boy’s name?

S: Pele。

T: Yes. He is Pele—the world famous football player.

And he is called “the king of football.”

Step 4: Post-reading

1. Look at the key words on the blackboard and then fill in the blanks .

T: This time, let’s retell the story in groups of four. You can look at the keywords on the blackboard.
