Last class, we mainly dealt with the reading aspects of the first paragraph. Today, let’s learn for more details. First there are some questions for you to work out: 1.

Find and underlined the sentences in the passage that use –ing forms as either the subject or the object. After finishing that you can check your answers with your classmates. This time you have tree minutes.

Rewrite the following sentences using the –ing form as the subject. (three minutes) (purpose: practice the usage of –ing as subject.) T:

Which verbs are followed by –ing? Which by the infinitive? First write doing or to do over the correct group. Then write the verbs in the box in the correct columns and finally practice making at least four sentences with them.

After having a better understanding of the article, we learn to know that –ing can be used as both subject and object. Some verbs are followed by the infinitive, some are followed by –ing and some are followed by both –ing and the infinitive.
