Anne’s Best Friend的阅读课文是以日记形式讲述了犹太女孩安妮的故事。在第二次世界大战纳粹统治时期，犹太人Anne一家为躲避纳粹的迫害，过着滇沛流漓、与世隔绝的生活。Anne和家人不得不藏身于荷兰阿姆斯特丹的小阁楼里，在无法与外界接触，周围又没有可推心置腹的朋友的情形下，孤独中的Anne将日记（取名Kitty）作为自己倾诉衷肠的朋友，伴她度过了两年的逃亡生活。

Auld lang syne

Auld Lang Syne是一首非常出名的诗歌，原文是苏格兰文，直译做英文是"old long since"或"times gone by"，意思大概是逝去已久的日子。Auld Lang Syne是十八世纪苏格兰诗人罗伯特彭斯(Robert Burns)根据当地父老口传录下的。这首诗后来被谱了乐曲，除了原苏格兰文外，这首歌亦被多国谱上当地语言，在中国各地普遍称为《友谊地久天长》。人们通常可以哼出歌曲的旋律，但大部份人只可唱出歌词的一小段。

在很多西方国家，这首歌通常会在除夕夜演唱，象征送走旧年而迎接新年的来临，它的主调并没有中文版本那样感伤，而这首歌在很多亚洲地区中的学校毕业礼或葬礼中作为主题曲，象征告别或结束的情感。

在经典电影“魂断蓝桥”中，此曲被用作为主旋律。
