一、教材分析

本课是外研社新标准英语（一起）四年级下册Module 8 Unit 1 He lives in the east of the US.的内容，第一单元主要是让学生了解美国主要城市的地理位置，重点学习in the east/west of的表达，本册书第六模块第二单元出现了in the east/west of..这一短语，学生只是理解了，但并没有作为目标语句进行深入学习，本课学生是要学会使用方位词介绍地理位置。第二单元则在此基础上学习in the north /south of的表达，并对城市或者景点进行较为全面的描述。

二、学情分析

对于四年级学生来说，绝大多数学生并不清楚美国主要城市的地理位置。部分学生能够较为准确地用汉语说出中国城市的地理位置，但也有部分学生分辨不清城市的东、西、南、北，因此本课的重点是在学习用英语表述东、西、南、北的同时，借助地图直观让学生感受城市或景点在地图中的位置。针对四年级学生的年龄特点，本课采取了活动、游戏等形式激发学生的兴趣，使学生在真实的情境中学习，感受所学的知识，并能够综合运用所学语言。

三、教学目标

1. 语言技能

能理解掌握本课生词，能熟练并能在真实情景中运用本课的重点句型“...is in the east/west of...”介绍城市或者景点的地理位置。

2. 语言知识

能熟练掌握单词best、north、south、rest、country、speak、capital、maybe，短语have a rest，听懂、会说、并能运用句型He lives in the east of the US. Los Angeles is in the west of the US.介绍人物所居住城市或景点的地理位置。

3. 情感态度

热爱生活，乐于了解地理知识。

4. 学习策略

对所学内容能主动复习、想象、对比、归纳。

5. 文化意识

了解外国主要城市以及首都。

六、教学过程

（一）复习导入Warm-up and lead in（

5 分钟）

1. Say a chant. 教师带领学生唱歌曲“Children from China are Chinese.”。

2. Lead in. “Look and say.”

Show pictures on PPT，and say “This country is China .I live in China .”

教师示范后，让学生看图说Russia和America 。

3. Introduce my sister：She lives in London. It’s in the east of England.

【设计意图】以旧带新，复习学过的国家名称及使用

live in介绍人物所在国家，为下面的学习做好铺垫。此外运用本课目标语句介绍妹妹的情况，让学生有初步的感知。

（二）任务呈现Task presentation（

The task: 提出今天的学习任务。通过今天的学习，我们要介绍中国以及美国的城市以及景点的地理位置。

（三）课文学习Text learning（

1. Listen and watch. Lead the students watch the video, then ask them answer the questions: “Which country are Daming and Sam talking about? Where does Daming’s cousin live?”

【设计意图】通过观看课文动画，让学生先整体感知大明的堂兄住在美国的东部，同时让学生比对旧知eat，在发音上掌握本课的四会单词east。

【设计意图】再次听录音回答问题，让学生理解洛杉矶和纽约在美国的位置，并通过单词学习及图片学习本课的目标语句；学习单词west时，引导学生比对旧知wet掌握其发音，之后引导学生用替换法读一读best、rest、test。
