Step 1. Greeting : 1.Ask students to guess the country we are going to talk about –

Today we going to learn about a country .

it is a country and also a

continent. It is surrounded by oceans.

While many countries are having winter, it is

in summer. In this country , you can see many plants and animals that can not seen in other continents., such as kangaroo, koala bears and so on .Do you know which country it is ? 3.

Ask students to say something about each picture and distinguish what city each picture associates with ? what places do you know in Australia ? 4.

3. Look at the pictures, what do you see in the picture ? Can you recognize them ? why ? 5.

Ask students to find the places listed in Question 1 on the map. 6.

Ask students to work in groups and discuss what they know about these places ? Step 2: Pre- reading. 1.

Ask students to quickly glance at the five texts and answer the questions designed for this part. 2.

Get students know some reading strategies: skimming, scanning ,and detailed reading skills. 3.

Ask students pay attention to the words that

frequently appear in the test . Step 3. Reading . 1).Ask students to read the text quickly and answer the questions listed in Exercise 1.

2).Ask students to read the text in detail, and underline the information they don’t know before and write down five facts that they consider to be the most interesting and exchange information in groups’ work. Step 4.Discussion. Ask students to work in groups to discuss the following questions: 1.

What kind of people do you think make Australia their home? 2.

Each year large number of people became Australia citizens ,why do you think they choose to become Australia citizens ? 3.

When do you think traveling by train across Australia would be appropriate and when do you think traveling by plane would most suitable ? Give more than one reason. 4.

In what part of Australia do you think most agriculture take place ? Give reasons. 5.

Choose five word to describe Australia. Step 5. Language points. Explain some difficult points to students that are listed on the PPT. Step 6. Homework. 1.
