Ⅰ. Analysis of the Teaching Material

This is Listening & Speaking class, the fifth period of Unit 2 Robots from Senior English for China Book 7. The teaching procedures are as follows: Step I Warming up let students watch a video Space Robot , Kirobo , looking, learning and answering what they know about

Kirobo. By combining Kirobo and Tony in the textbook, direct students how to descripe a robot including their appearance, material and function. In this way help students learn more about robots and consolidate their note-taking skills while listening as well. Step II Role Play in Groups for 10 minutes In group of six one acts as a journalist and the others as the designers of Space Robot , Kirobo. Through an interview, the journalist can gather from the designers the information about Space Robot , Kirobo. Its purpose is practicing the students’ speaking ability and testing what they have learned after the video. To some degree, students learn best when actively involved in a group. Step III

Practice Between Two Groups for 8 mintutes Give comments on “Design and Performance” to each other after practice，helping students learn from each other. Step IV

Group Presentation

In this activity they can

experience the value of communication and their desire to communicate is also aroused. Step V Learning Assessment

present a Self-evaluation form for students to carry out self-evaluation,

stimulating students interest in independent study. Step VI

Homework

In groups finish a basic writing about

Space Robot, Kirobo. This step can help students practice communication skills, including summarizing, comparing, describing and so on.

Ⅱ. Analysis of the students The students have already had some common sense of robots. This class is to practice their communication skills and testing what they have learned in this unit.

Step ⅡRole Play in Groups 10 minutesOne Student: a journalist The others: the designers of Space Robot, KiroboThe journalist is interviewing the designers of Space Robot about Kirobo. And the journalist can ask the others questions as many as possible so as to get more information about it. Kirobo体重:1公斤左右身高：34厘米外观：可爱功能：语音功能，辅助宇航员在太空的工作，和宇航员聊天，帮助他们排解寂寞。

Ⅷ. Teaching Reflection Design purpose :

improve students’ communication skills in listening,

speaking, understanding and writing in groups.

Teaching feedback: some students are not familiar with the interview and some groups cannot perform well. In some way, they should practice more and observe carefully.
