2017 Theme/Topic: Senior Book 2 Unit 1 Cultural Relics Reading -- In Search of the Amber Room

Time: 40 CONTEXT (minimum of 4-5 sentences): Describe the class you envision teaching this

lesson to. For example - How many students are in the class? What is their level of English? Is it a multi-level class? What is the native language of the students? Where is the school

located? Is it a rural/urban school? I will teach this to my Grade 10 class. There are 50 students in this class. Most of the students are at a low level and cannot complete most of the tasks in the textbook. Some are medium and there are few advanced students that can easily complete the textbook activities. It is a rural boarding school. Student only go home on the weekend to see their parents.

RATIONALE (minimum of 4-5 sentences): Why did you choose this topic for this class? Do you think this topic is important/interesting for your students? Why do you want to learn how to teach this topic better? What aspect(s) of your time at the University of

Ottawa prompted you to want to focus your lesson on this topic/activity? It is a very important lesson because it introduces some cultural relics knowledge. Students should learn this well in the beginning to understand other units.

It is a very important lesson because students can learn some protection knowledge. Although it is boring, many useful words in it. Students may don't like this lesson and don't pay more attention to it. I need to find a way to make students interested in this lesson and follow attentively.

To motivate students, I will use some skills that learn from U Ottawa to encourage students. I will design more activities to let students interested in this topic.

I want to teach this topic better because I know protection cultural relics is everyone's duty.

Students might have difficulty understand the passage because the topic is unfamiliar with them. I can explain them to the students. In while-reading, students have difficult in sharing their own idea with others. I will give them more time to prepare if the time permitted.
