period of this unit Time 2018.6.2 Design Idea According to new curriculum, I design to lead ss to learn some key usages of the -ing form as the subject and object by using task-based learning approach and situational learning approach, focusing on students’

finding/comparing/classify/summarize the grammar items, which will strengthen ss’ confidence in learning English grammar and writing as well as lead ss to achieve the teaching goal by a series of class activities. Teaching objectives The -ing form as the subject and object is important in English learning ,especially in writing. Actually they have learned the -ing teaching form used as the object and the subject. What they lacks is systematically necessary classification and summary. So in this class different levels of exercises are set for students to look, analyze and summarize . Students will be able to : correctly finish off all the practice by using –ing form in the real situation in the given time.

Students will be able to : have a better application of the -ing form as the subject and object by using self summary, group or pair cooperative methods.

and Students will be able to : have more confidence in applying this useful grammatical item especially in English writing.

My students are relatively good in our school. They have good learning habits and take an active part in class activities . Moreover they are willing to face challenges, so with the teacher’s help, most students will willingly list/classify/summarize the characteristics of the-in form used as the subject and the object,thus smoothly fulfilling teaching aims.

Most students will be able to identify the -ing form as the subject and object and know which verbs /phrases are followed by the -ing form.

procedures

Step 1.

Revision and lead-in 1.

Check if students have recited the 6 sentences containing the -ing form used as the subject and the object in the reading passage.

2 . Ask some questions about the -ing form and present the learning objectives.

Step 2.Summary Summarize the use of some key uses of the -ing form as the subject and object. T:Show some sentences and by means of various class activities stimulate students learn/observe/practice/sum up the rules. .

S:Observe ,discuss and summarize the rules by self learning and group work on how to make the -ing form as the subject and object in the real situation.

Step 3. Practice . Complete all the exercises in students’ handouts correctly in pairs.

Step 4. Assignment Review what they have learned today and then finish off the writing . Blackboard design

As the subject: Spending money on himself or leading a comfortable life also means very little to him. 2.

As the object:

As a young man, he saw the great need for increasing the rice output. the key sentences . It is no use/good/fun/pleasure doing sth . It is worthwhile doing sth . There is no doing sth . There is no point/sense doing sth After-teaching reflection In general, most of the students can finish the exercises by using the right the -ing form as the subject and object. However, it is still hard for some students to have the right the -ing form as the subject and object in the real writing situation . And therefore, I will guide the students to do more practice while reading or writing.
