Step1: Lead-in (3 mins) 1.

Divide groups. 2.

Listen to some attributive clauses and match the pictures. Sentence 1 It is a tower in France which is called Eiffel. Sentence 2 It is a room that is made up of amber. Sentence 3 It is a kind of building which was built to fight against enemies. Sentence 4 They are caves which show the art of Buddhism.

Step2: The definition and structure of attributive clause (3 mins) 1.

Task 1: Applying grammar in sentences 1.

Task 2: Applying grammar in speaking: Guessing game 1.

Each group selects a student to the front and he/she mustn’t look at the screen. 2.

The teacher shows some pictures on the PPT and other students use attributive clauses to describe the picture for the students on the stage. 3.

One picture for 2 points. （设计意图：在游戏中训练学生说定语从句的能力，进一步强化学生对定语从句的理解和使用，并将枯燥的语法学习变得生动有趣，激发学生对英语的热情。）

Task 3: Applying grammar in a short context about Fujian Tulou: Proofreading The Tulou building is a special residence in china. Central china was in a state of war in the 10th century that a number of people migrated to the mountainous region in southeast china. They built Tulou with clay and rocks for living and defense.

Circles of rooms are enclosed by another circle, rooms are connected by round, corridors. The second floor is used as the granary, the third and fourth floors are used as bedrooms. There were more than three hundred rooms in the largest Tulou, that can hold more than eight hundred people. The Tulou, which center is the public area has many wells and kitchens. People whom have lived in the Tulou held family meetings on the axis and hosted ceremonies for ancestor worship in harmony for hundreds of years. Now Tulou are open to the public, which you can experience the family love and unsophisticated customs when you pass by the lovely windows.

Task 4: Applying grammar in writing 1.

Show a composition for students to rewrite the assigned four sentences into attributive clauses. 2.

Check the answer.

As is known to all, China is a big country that has a long history. ①

There are many cultural relics including material and non-material ones. Both of them are previous treasures for Chinese people.

In terms of material cultural relics, ②the Great Wall and Tulou are great buildings. Their purpose is to prevent the citizens from being attacked. Besides, ③Yellow mountain and Wuyi mountain are natural reserves. We could appreciate breath-taking scenery of nature. As for non-material cultural relics, Peking Opera and Nan-in are traditional folk arts dating back to ancient China. In addition,

④calligraph and Dragon Boat Festival are intangible cultural heritages as well. We are supposed to develop them.

In summary, China is a country full of cultural relics that present its appealing history.

（设计意图：通过让学生改写作文中的普通句和合并两个简单句，使学生拥有了在写作中运用定语从句的意识，学会学以致用，让学生体会到自己也是具有学好英语的潜力，从而提高他们的信心。）

Step5. Summary and homework (1 mins) Homework：write a short passage about a place you are interested in by using as many attributive clauses as possible.
