Knowledge aims: Students should not only learn to guess the meaning of the new words and phrases but also understand the usages of them. Ability aims:

Students should be inspired to make use of words and phrases to communicate and their autonomous abilities should also be improved.

Moral aims:

Students should develop the spirit of cooperation and raise students’ awareness of protecting cultural relics. 2. The important and difficult points 1.Understand the meaning of new words;

Step 2Presentation

1.search

1.I will shows some pictures of the “Running man” , a very popular TV program to introduce the word . For example, In this popular program ,

the players run everywhere in search of

clues (线索) .If they search out

the clues, they can search opponents for the name brand.

2. I ask students to make more sentences with different usages of it. Students make full use of imagination to practice this word. An exercise about a popular movie is also designed to consolidate the usages of it. 2. survive Show the pictures of Jack and Rose to lead in the word “survive”.

1.The teacher gives an example to help students understand the different usages of it.

2.Get students to make a report according to the picture, which helps students apply the words into practice. The teacher can also give some hints about how to make a report.

1.Maybe the students feel a little tired now, so I play a song to activate the atmosphere. After listening to the song, students will be asked to guess the meaning of “belong to .”

1.Show some sentences of “doubt” , then ask students to find out the rules of usages of this word and make a summary . There is an exercise for students to see if they have mastered it. Then I will let students make more sentences with it. 6.worth

T; How much is the amber worth? Ss: It is worth thousands of dollars. T:In my opinion, its value can’t

be measured by money.Because it belongs to cultural relics. Is it worthwhile to protect/protecting cultural relics?

Meanwhile I will apply a micro-class to make them clear of the differences among “worth, worthy,worthwhile”.

It is easy for students to understand two phrases. Therefore, I apply a

video which is performed by students for them to catch the meaning of”“in return.”

This activity helps students have a general understanding of the meanings of the new words and phrases. Step3 sentences patterns I choose two difficult and good sentences in the passage .First, let them know the meaning of them.Then, let them imitate them. Step 4 Consolidation

I give several sentences for students to translate ,which include the main words and sentence patterns in this passage .

Students make a speech whose topic is : “Are cultural relics worth protecting?”. Students can refer to the phrases and sentence patterns learned today.This step is to consolidate what they have learned . Step 5 Homework 1.Make more sentences with the words and sentence patterns learned today.
