Teaching procedures

Step 1. Lead-in

T shows some pictures and Ss freetalk about online shopping on Back Friday.

T presents a letter from Amy to Lihua about Christmas online shopping in America. In the letter, Amy asks Lihua to introduce something about online shopping on 11.11. Step 2.Grammar-learning; observation, analysis and conclusion T asks Ss to underline the attributive clauses in the letter and asks them to observe how to choose the proper prep. before which/ whom. The attributive clauses are as follows. •

It is the day following Thanksgiving Day, on which bargain hunters head out for stores from 5 am, pushing and shoving with rival shoppers to grab the big offers.

T asks Ss to underline prep.+which/ whom in the attributive clauses and discuss why to choose this prep. in a group of four. Step 3 Presentation

After the discussion, T instructs Ss in concluding the rules. T presents the rules on PPT. The rules are as follows. 1.如何选择介词

1) 根据先行词和介词的习惯性搭配；

2) 根据从句中谓语动词和介词的习惯性搭配；

3) 根据从句中形容词和介词的习惯性搭配。

2.介词的位置

1）介词放在关系代词前时，关系代词只能用which/ whom, 且不能省略;

2）含有介词的固定动词和形容词短语一般不拆开，因此不能使用prep+which/ whom。介词放在从句动词或形容词后时，可用who/whom/ that/ which。

3.prep+which/ whom转换

在从句中作时间、地点、原因状语时，可换成when, where, why 常见结构拓展
