Unit1 Learning about language Ⅰ

Analysis of Teaching Material This is the third lesson in this unit. Before this class, the the students have read the text and finished comprehending tasks.

The learning task focuses on cultivating students’

ability of analyzing and solving problems. Through such steps as understanding the sentences, summarizing the usage, finishing similar sentences, etc. Students are required to gather typical usage of important vocabulary and sentences patterns. Interesting pictures and humorous expressions can arouse their interest in learning about language easily. Teacher should encourage students to find the usage actively and efficiently. In order not to let students feel much difficult, the teacher should deal with any language problems while they are analyzing. The teacher can let them work in pairs or in groups. Ⅱ

a. Enable Ss to master typical usage of important vocabulary and sentences patterns. b. Get Ss to increase self-confidence by cooperating with partners.

Teaching Procedures Step 1 Revision Play a guessing game to review words which will be taught in detail. Step 2 Presentation 1. Analyze the sentences and experience how to use words such as select, rare, reception, etc. 2. Gather the usage of each word or sentence pattern 3. Use what has been taught to make more sentences

Some students will be invited to make sentences orally; After it, the whole class can correct typical mistakes and remember correct ones. Step 3 Homework
