I. Teaching goals

1. Enable students to know more about cultural relics and stimulate their sense of protecting cultural relics. 2. Develop the students’ sense of group cooperation and teamwork.

Step 1: Greetings

Greet the Ss as usual. Step 2 Warming-up Discussion: What happened to the Amber Room? Step 3 Reading and judging 1. Read the text of “A Fact Or An Opinion?”, then anwer:

1) What is a fact? 2) What is an opinion? 3) What is an evidence? 2. List some sentences for students to judge whether it’s a fact or an opinion.

Step 4 Reading and listening 1. Read Jan Hasek’s story, find out some information:

What did he hear?

What did he see?

What did he believe? 2. Judge whether Jan’s story a fact or an opinion, tell reasons.

3. Listen to Part A and Part B, write down where and how the Amber Room was lost.

4. Read through the table in Ex5, then listen to the tape for the second time, then fill in the blank. 5. Listen to the tape for the third time, check answers.

Step 5 Make dialogues 1. Ask the students to read the table about Anna’s story. Underline some parts of the sentences, lead the students to ask question like these:

Who tells this story?

Where did the story take place?

What did the German soldier take into the castle? …

2. Add two questions: Do you think it’s a fact? Why?

Ask students to ask and answer questions with their deskmates.
