Reading: A Student Of African Wildlife

单元课标解读及教学设计

设计思想：

《课标》语言技能八级目标关于“读”的方面要求能通过分析句子结构，理解难句和长句，能理解阅读材料中不同的观点和态度，根据学习任务的需要，从多种媒体中获取信息，并进行加工处理；语言知识八级目标关于“话题”要求熟悉有关风俗习惯，科学文化和文学艺术等方面的话题；情感态度八级目标要求能用英语恰当地表达自己的情感态度和价值观，在用英语交流的过程中，能理解语言隐含的情感态度和价值观。

根据以上课标要求，本节课将通过Skim, Scan, Predict, Guess, Summarize等阅读策略来进一步训练学生根据文章标题和图片推测文章大意；培养学生把握篇章中心内容、归纳段落大意以及获取关键信息的阅读技巧，并且能针对阅读内容提出问题，发展思维，抓住文章的行文逻辑进行复述; 提高学生通过阅读获取信息的能力，归纳Jane Goodall观察黑猩猩的方法，以及她在黑猩猩的研究和保护方面取得的成就。

教情分析: 本单元的中心话题是“女性”，通过介绍几位生活在不同国度的杰出女性，探讨女性在社会生活中的地位、价值和贡献，关注她们所面临的困难，讴歌她们在社会各个领域的成就。学习本单元内容有助于提高学生对妇女的社会角色的认识、培养学生（尤其是女生）的自信心、事业心和社会责任感，建立正确的性别观和社会观。

“Warming-up”部分通过图文的形式展现了中外几位著名的女性以及她们所取得的显著成效，从而让学生体会到女性的伟大和社会价值。

“Pre-reading”部分实际上包含两项任务。一是通过提出两个问题Why do you think Jane Goodall went to Africa to study chimps rather than to university? Do you think she was right? Give your reasons. 引导学生思考两种不同的的研究方法（即实验室研究法与野外研究法）的优势与不足。从而很自然地将学生从“Warming-up”部分的讨论，过渡到“Reading”部分的学习。二是通过看图和读标题预测正文部分的内容大意，然后迅速浏览全文来检验自己的预测是否正确。

“Reading” 以A Student Of African Wildlife（非洲野生动物研究者）为题，描述了Jane与她的同事们在非洲原始森林观察非洲黑猩猩的一个片段，并阐述她从事这项工作的重要性以及她所取得的成就。尽管他们在野外的考察工作又脏又累，但他们觉得这样做是值得的。他们有一些重要发现是在学校的实验室里不可能获得的，这正是Jane Gooddall要到Africa原始森林来的原因。她通过多年的研究，帮助人类了解黑猩猩的生活习性。她强烈呼吁让动物回归自然，反对用动物做实验、做广告或从事娱乐活动。她力图唤起人类理解动物、尊重动物和保护动物的意识，而她所取得的成就无疑是对广大有进取心的妇女的莫大鞭策和鼓舞。

“Comprehending”部分设计了四个练习，分别从不同层面引导学生进行阅读。前三个练习通过选择题、归纳段落大意和填表格来检查学生对阅读篇章的理解程度。练习四要求学生在深刻理解课文内容的基础上，对课文Jane的行为表达自己的看法，并让学生设身处地，就是否愿意从事野生动物研究做出选择。通过讨论四个开放性的话题，可以坚定学生保护动物的信念;同时科通过其他4个1

问题设置让学生更加充分意识到：一个人的成功在于自己不怕吃苦，敢于挑战和坚韧的个性。

学情分析: 本阶段让大部分学生继续养成具备略读、扫读获取信息以及根据上下文猜测词义的阅读技能，少部分基础较差的学生基础薄弱，词汇量匮乏，以上所提到的相关阅读技能掌握较差。现阶段的学生对于女性地位、所做出的成就和社会贡献以及和他们所体现的社会价值和自身价值的话题有所了解，但并不熟知，缺乏深入的了解和进一步的思考，而本单元就为学生提供了很好的平台，同时教育学生学习Jane Goodall的不怕困难，乐于奉献的精神。

Teaching Goals: After this period, Ss will be able to: 1.Comprehend the story of Jane Goodall’s protecting the African wildlife and learn methods to summarize the main idea of a story..

2. Predict the main idea of the text by the pictures and the title, acquire useful information quickly by skimming and scanning and analyze the information they get.

3.Learn from Jane Goodall to treat animals in a human way and come to the idea that great personality is of importance to one’s success.

4. Learn some useful words, expressions and some sentence patterns.

5.Conclude that Jane Goodall has been helping the rest of the world understand and respect the life of these animals for forty years.We will succeed in overcoming any difficulties and achieving our goals if we can be as strong-willed as her. So let Ss voice their opinions on the value shown in women’s contributions to society,to the world from the infornation they have got in the text.
