Unit 1 Breaking Records The Road is Always Ahead of You Teaching Design

My teaching is designed to help the students to find out the structure of the passage, learn about Ashrita Furman and his imaginative events as well as his beliefs. Most importantly, the students are supposed to think about the deep meaning of one’s life and the value of spirits and beliefs. Therefore, the reading procedure is shown as follows: Step 1. Let’s talk (lead in)

Ask the students questions about sports to lead to the topic of usual sports.

Show the students a vedio about Ashrita Furman who did very unusual sports. 3.

Talk about Ashrita Furman’s imaginative events.

Ashrita Furman (para1-2) (Rush to answer to know about a brief introduction of Ashrita Furman ) Ashrita Furman is a sportsman who likes the challenge of breaking Guinness records. Over the last 25 years, he has broken approximately 93 Guinness records. More than twenty of these he still holds, including the most records.

Recently, he has achieved his dream of breaking a record in all seven continents. 2I) Imaginative events (para 3-7) ( Rush to name)

The students are interested in the events, so they may choose one to try out.

3)Attitude/ Beliefs (para 8--13) (Pair task----- one designs a question and the other answers according to the given words )
