Learning about Language (The –ing form as the Subject & Object) Analysis of teaching material:

This part is mainly about the usage of –ing form, which is already shown in reading part. Students have had a rough impression about its usage. Teaching Objectives: Knowledge objective:

1. Enable Ss to master some new words and expressions.

2. Enable Ss to master the usage of -ing form as subject and object

Ability objective: 1.

Help Ss learn how to use the -ing form as subject and object correctly and freely.

Enable students to express their ideas as they like with correct words and grammar. Teaching important points:

The usage of the important words and the -ing form used as subject and object.

How to use the words and expressions and the -ing form freely and correctly; Teaching methods

Teaching Procedures: Step 1. Lead-in

Purpose: To arouse Ss’ interest in learning about the using of –ing form as subject; Activity 1:

Q: What make me more beautiful? Make up? Or making up?

Step 2. Presentation and practice

Purpose: more picture clues to help students to acquire the usage of –ing form as subject, and the pictures are all about my daily life, which may play an active role in arousing students’ interest.

Activity 2:

一、动词-ing形式作主语

1.

动词-ing形式作主语表示经常的、习惯性的动作, 谓语动词用_______：

Activity 3: More practice about the usage of it as subject Purpose: enable students to acquire it by enough exercises, and also pictures that closely related to students’

二、动词-ing形式作宾语

Activity 4: Playing a small game.

Purpose: In order to help students to acquire those verbs and phrases that only use –ing from as object. A game is designed here to help them acquire it better with more fun.

Ask two students to make a competition to write down the verbs and phrases as many as they can according to the Chinese tips given on the screen. Round 1: 考虑建议盼原谅

三、既跟动词ing又接不定式作宾语的动词歌诀:

双方一旦开始，不论喜欢与否，都得继续下去。

不管记住与否，努力打算停止，后悔三个需要。

1. begin , start ,like ,prefer , hate ,dislike ,continue . 2. remember , forget , try , mean , stop , regret

3. want , need , require

四、need, require, want作“需要”解时, 后接动词-ing形式作宾语, 主动形式表示被动意义, 相当于to be done。
