给学生一段关于2016年奥运会的阅读材料，让学生通过回答问题，来复习奥运会相关词汇。

2016 Rio Olympics, was an international multi-sport event

held in Brazil in August. More than 11,000 competitors from 207 countries took part in it. With 306 sets of

medals, the games featured 28 Olympic sports. The host city Rio became the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics. These were the first games since 1968 to be held in Latin America, and the first since 2000 to be held in the Southern Hemisphere （南半球）. These sporting events took place at 33 venues （场馆）. The largest venue was the 74,738-seat Maracana Stadium, which served as the ceremonies venue and site of the football finals. The second largest stadium Havelange hosted track and field events. The athletes’ village was said to be the

largest in Olympic history. The medals feature a wreath design , which represents the Greek goddess of victory. The two lovely Olympic mascots were born from the joy of Brazilians. The official emblem stands for

the multi-culture and friendliness of Rio. Chinese athletes broke 5 records and won 26 gold medals, ranking the third in the medal table. “The Rio
