English jokes are also called the “corny jokes”, which require the readers/listeners to have a basic understanding on English culture and also English language itself. Students have learned and got familiar with the new words and expressions, so they are able to understand the general idea of jokes and passages in using language. Listening tasks 教学策略

【A】教学流程

1. A taste of English jokes. Teacher plays the audios of the English jokes and students try to listen and understand them.

2. Listen to the audio and fill in the blanks. Teacher plays the audio of the humourous story “Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson”. Students listen and fill in the blanks. 3. Listening task: There is no thief! Teacher plays the audio of the story. Students listen and finish the True or False questions. 【B】设计意图

The jokes are short and interesting, which can arouse students interests. Students can use the newly-learned words and expressions while they are enjoying the humour. Students practice their listening skills of catching key information while they are enjoying the humourous story.
