设计意图：

This is the third teaching period of this unit, I first offer chances for students to review what they learned in last period, then lead them into the new lesson.

The emphasis of this period will be placed on the important words, expressions and sentence patterns in the reading test. In order to make students understand these points thoroughly, I first get students to understand these words and phrases in the context, then offer some exercises to make students master their usages and give some explanations about them.

At the end of the class, I make students do more exercises and organize a short passage for consolidation, In doing so, they can learn and use these important language points well.

Get students to read through Warming up, Pre--reading , Reading and Comprehending to underline all the new words and useful expressions or collocations in these parts.

Step3 Practice for useful words and expressions

1. Turn to page 20. Go through the exercises in discovering useful words and expressions with students and make sure they know what to do to.

2. Give them several minutes to finish the exercises. They first do them individually: then discuss and check them with partners.

3. Check the answers with the whole class and explain the problems they

meet where necessary.

句中的like an elephant (像一头大象)，这个比喻来自英语谚语”An elephant never forgets.”大象永远不会遗忘。
