Step I Greetings and reviewing 1.

The topic of this unit is English humour,and we have known that Charlie Chaplin is one of the most outstanding humorists in the world. Now, let us review his image and costume. Suggested answers: with a moustache, a small round black hat,carrying a walking stick, worn large trousers, walked around stiffly, worn-out shoes 2.

Do you know some famous Chinese humorists? Suggested answers: Ma Ji, Gong Hanlin, Chen Peisi, Zhao benshan, Guo Degang,Shen Teng, Ma Li….

How to make people laugh? Suggested answers: words, body language, actions, facial expressions Step Ⅱ Speaking

设计意图：This is an opportunity for the students to develop their comic skills. It is suggested that they prepare a joke or funny story in pairs, discuss what is a good way to tell a joke, and then put these ideas into practice when they tell their own jokes. 1.

Show students a humorous video called “I am not lost”

Show students the key word “punchline”

Punchline means the last part of a story or a joke that explains the meaning of what happened previously or makes it funny. 3.

Let students discuss with their partners whether they think the story they listened to is funny and give reasons. Use these words and expressions below. How wonderful! I am pleased we both like .…

Ask students to tell their own funny English or Chinese stories using facial expressions and some actions to make the story as funny as they can. Step Ⅲ Writing 设计意图：This writing exercise provides the students with an opportunity to learn to write humorous stories. The teacher can discuss with the students the structure of a humorous story, the last line (or punchline) to make the story funny, and how to write the stages in a logical order. 1.
