教材分析：

本单元的中心话题是“澳大利亚”。通过对本单元的学习，学生将获取并能讨论该国的地理、历史、自然、风俗、文化等方面的知识，对该国家的了解更加具体、系统。整个单元的热身、阅读等语言知识和语言技能项目都围绕一中心设计和展开的。

学情分析：

学生已掌握了丰富的词汇，能主动地进行较好的表达。

文科生对地理知识各方面的了解比较全面，能更好地在课上帮助他们对澳大利亚进行更深入的理解。

学生课上思维活跃，能积极的参加各项活动。

设计意图：帮助学生解决在阅读过程中碰到的难的单词，结构和句子，减少学生的阅读阻碍并要求学生可以掌握其用法。

Task2. Now read the five texts again more carefully. Underline any information about Australia that you didn’t know before. Write down some facts that you consider to be the most interesting. Share your facts with others in your class. Ask the Ss to read the text in detail, underline the information they didn’t know before and write down some facts that they consider to be the most interesting and exchange information in groups’ work. Give the students 2 or 3minutes to discuss with their classmates, and then ask some of them to express the ideas to us.

设计意图：阅读部分包含五篇主题相同却风格各异的短文，百科全书选段、新闻报道、广告、明信片、旅游手册文章，从多角度概叙了澳大利亚的国家全貌。任务2要求学生仔细细读课文，同时标出自己以前不了解的一些关于澳大利亚的信息，列出其中最有意思的几项，并与同伴交流讨论。这个练习从形式上看比较简单，但它能使学生对文中信息进行主动加工，从认知层面提升到思维层面，从而把书本上的知识纳入了自己的知识体系。并且这五篇短文大多是陈述性和描叙性的语言，而没有表达个人的观点的语句，因此，该练习借用文中提到的一些事实发问，以激发学生对文章内容的深沉思考。问题的答案不能从文中直接找到，要求学生有理有据地说出自己的观点，从而提高和培养学生的语言表达能力和反应能力。

Writing----The test of divergent thinking

Ask the Ss to work in groups and write a short passage about your hometown——Tong Cheng If you’re an ambassador of Tong Cheng, you need introduce Tong Cheng to other friends. You can choose one point to represent. Let the students see a video about Tong Cheng. Divide the class into nine groups, give them some tools (color pens and paper) to draw some easy pictures, and give them some minutes to write some short sentences and draw the pictures. Some minutes later, ask some students to represent their works and read their sentences in front of the class as an ambassador.

设计意图：

先让学生观看一小段关于通城各方面介绍的视频，视频中提供一些能让学生比较容易掌握的信息和资源。然后让学生来充当自己家乡的形象使者，用老师提供的彩笔和纸进行简易画画，并配上一些简短的语句就通城的某一个方面到黑板前面来进行展示和介绍。这部分的设计刚好在形式上与课文有一定的相识度，能让学生学以致用，激发学生的创造力和想象力，培养学生之间和团队合作能力及口语表达能力，能很大程度上强化教学成果。
