一

教材分析

1．中心话题是“航海、发现探索未知的大陆”，内陆涉及海洋航行、人类早期的航海技术、中国历史上最著名的航海家郑和、辛巴达的第一次冒险航行等。本单元的语言知识和语言技能都是依据“航海、发现探索未知的大陆”这个中心话题设计的。

2．本文目的旨在让学生了解在现代航海仪器发明以前，我们的祖先是怎样利用自然知识和一些简单的工具来对海洋进行探索。

Activities for observation, understanding and exploration of ocean involve a great deal of processing and analysis of visual information. 二．学情分析

1．高中年龄段的学生对周围的事物较为敏感，有自己的观点和看法，他们不满足教科书上的知识，让学生主动学习，学有所获，如上网查阅资料，获取更多的信息。

2．学生不只想把英语作为一门死记硬背的课程来学，更希望能学到知识性和趣味性兼有的内容，从英语学习中获得更多的知识和能力。

3．探究早期海洋冒险家的经历，使学生对成为航海家所应该具备的素质有一定的了解。理解说明文语言的准确性，抓住说明事物的特征，这是说明文语言的先决条件，表示时间，空间，数量，范围，程度，特征，性质，诠释，分类，举例和程序等。

三．教学目标

（一）知识技能

1.通过本课的学习使学生能够在理解的基础上复述课文。

2.在阅读中体会并初步掌握生词、词组和句型的用法。

（二）情感态度

1.了解成为一个海洋冒险家的相关知识以及勇于挑战应具备的品质。2.鼓励学生打破“我不行”的心理暗示，让意念统领身体走出一条完美的道路

（三）学习策略

1.通过新词汇学习掌握速读、跳读和精读的要领。3.通过阅读让学生了解到阅读过程中有阅读障碍，不可求全责备，调整心态和注意力，通过读懂细节，推断隐含内容，掌握其大意，获取所需信息。

四．教学重点和难点

重点：1. 了解说明文的文体特点并以此指导阅读。2.通过略读，导读，讨论，理解课文细节，理解词义，有效调动学生学习的主动性和自觉性。

难点：1.阅读技能的训练。2.学习有关海洋探险的词汇并加以在句子中的灵活活用

五．教学过程

Teaching procedures: 1.Leading-in Show students a VCR

to let them know something about navigators

培养学生快速获取所需信息的能力。

Skim the text and find answers to the text. A. How many ways did navigators used to help sailing? B. How many ways are mentioned in using nature to help sailing? C. What instruments did sailors use to find longitude and latitude? 2) Explain some new words and sentences in the text to smooth away the obstacle of reading. 3)Careful reading
