学生能借助图片、提示词等帮助复述故事。

Step 1: Warm-up 1. Greeting 2. Revision 写出下列动词的过去式: is/ am

【设计意图：复习相关的动词过去式，为接下来读故事做好准备。】

Step 2: Pre-reading 1. New words 看PPT，学习bottle, dig, dug, hole, coach

【设计意图：简单学习这些相关的新单词，为进一步阅读扫清障碍。】

2. Lead in Show the students Pele’s photo，and then introduce Pele. Ask students: Do you know the story of Pele? Today we’ll learn the story of Pele.

【设计意图：在阅读故事之前先介绍故事的主人公，提供必要的背景知识，激发学生的阅读动机和兴趣，为学生学故事做好铺垫。】

Step 3: While-reading 1. 让学生看图1，提出问题：

Why did the boy use boxes and bottles as his footballs? 学生通过快速阅读part 1，找出问题的答案。

Ask some students to answer the question. 【设计意图：指导学生如何通过快速阅读，获得自己所需要的信息。】

2. Read part 2 quickly and answer the question: Why did the coach give him a football as a gift? 学生通过快速阅读part 2，找出问题的答案。

Ask some students to answer the question. 【设计意图：指导学生通过快速阅读，获得自己所需要的信息。】

3. Read part 3 silently and choose A or B. What did he do for the coach at Christmas time? (B) A: He bought a Christmas gift. B: He dug a hole for the Christmas tree. 【设计意图：指导学生通过快速阅读，获得自己所需要的信息。】

4. Read part 4, answer questions. Q1: What did the coach do? Q2: What happened in 1958? 【设计意图：指导学生通过快速阅读，获得自己所需要的信息。】

5. Read the whole story quickly, and then match the pictures and the sentences. 【设计意图：培养学生如何运用略读策略把握故事的大意。】

Step 4: Post-reading

1. Read the story following the tape, and then talk about the story. 通过给学生提供图片来给学生提供帮助。

【设计意图：让学生把故事当中的语言简化，然后根据自己的理解把这个故事讲出来。】

2. What can you learn from Pele? 【设计意图：更深一步的理解导致贝利成功的因素，达成情感教育。】
