Help students to grasp vocabularies related to artificial intelligence

Step 1: Lead in The hot topic 2018 Russian World Cup helps to lead in. A picture of the famous footballer Messi showed to students. Then a question “have you heard of robots playing football game?”

Step 2: Reading

T: today we will read a passage about robots footballers. Let’s listen to the tape and finish the exercises on page 22.

Students get the right answers according to the passage, and they know about what Andy is, what he looks like and what he does when playing football. T: there are some important words and expressions in the passage which are important for us to comprehend it. Let’s try to work out their meanings. Students could figure out the right meaning of each word by means of the context or English explanation offered by the teacher. Step3: Designing and speaking T: if you have a chance to be a programmer, what robot do you want to design? What do you want it to help you do? Work in groups to discuss the question and at the same time, you are supposed to draw your robot on the paper I

will give you. T: all of you did I a great job! In your speaking, the most important thing a robot should do is to help you do your homework, you are so honest and imaginative. Step 4: Writing and debating

T: In real life, robots do have abilities to help people do so many things. Let’s look at some pictures. Robots can help us cook as well as human beings, it can help us do operations as well as human beings, even it can help us write as well as human beings. We can say that the development of technology makes our life more and more convenient. However, it also leads to some problems, for example, if a robot come into our house to help us with housework, everything we do at home will be watched by the robot, then our privacy will be a problem. So let’s come into the debating part. Do you think the development of technology brings us more benefits or less us more problems?
