Teaching Procedure: Step I Lead-in

Present the song “That’s Why You Go Away” to students and ask them to find out the lyrics including attributive clauses. Aim: to stimulate students' interest and lead to the main content of this lesson: attributive clause (restrictive).

Step II Let’s find out

Present some lyrics including attributive clauses to students and ask them to find out the original song and the basic structure of attributive clause (restrictive).

Aim:To make students grasp the basic structure of attributive clause (restrictive) and its relatives.

Step III Consolidation

Task I Make sentences

Students are required to make sentences according to the given key words, using attributive clause (restrictive).

Aim: To make students understand how to use different relatives to complete a sentence.

Task II Writing

Students are asked to write a short article based on the given Chinese, using as many attributive clauses as possible. And some useful words and expressions will also be shown to students.

Aim: To check students’ grasping level of using attributive clause.

Step V Sample presentation Show students a sample and ask them to pay attention to sentences using attributive clauses. Aim: To make students be able to appreciate the beauty of English writing and improve their writing.

Step VI Summary

Students summarize what they have learned in the class, and teacher concludes. Aim: To check whether students have grasped the main content of this lesson.

Find more English songs which include attributive clause.
