Lead in:

Ask Ss to correct the mistakes on the screen.

Purposes:

1. Let Ss know the V-ing form. 2. Arouse Ss’ interest in learning grammar.

Discover structures:

Ask Ss to look at some pictures: Yuan Longping, Yao Ming, some cats and a bird-like dog. Then, make a summary: V-ing form can be used as subject and object. 2.

Explain the grammar for Ss. -ing形式是动词的一种非限定形式，本单元主要介绍的用法如下：

（1）它们都有名词的特征，在句子中可以用作主语。如：

Using his hybrid rice farmers are producing harvests twice as large as before. Wishing for things, however, costs nothing. （2）也可以作为宾语。如：

His other hobbies include playing mah-jiong, swimming and reading. He also doesn’t care about being famous. （3）同时，动词-ing 形式也有动词特征，可以有自己的宾语或状语。如：

As a young man, he saw the great need for increasing the rice output. However, he cares little about spending the money on himself or leading a comfortable life. I don’t like people talking when I am reading. （4）-ing 形式作主语时，谓语动词要用单数形式。如：

Do Ex3 on P13 in groups and make summaries: （1）some words are only followed by V-ing form: admit, avoid, allow, mind...... （2）some words are only followed by the infinitive: expect, manage, want...... （3）some words can be followed by both but have different meanings:

regret, try, mean...... Purposes: 1. To make Ss further know the V-ing form. 2.

Showing and explaining methods to have Ss get a clear idea. 3.

Group work helps Ss to master the usage of V-ing form.

Consolidation: 1.

Ask Ss to finish Ex4 on P13 in pairs and compare their answers. 2.

Ask Ss to translate some sentences on the screen. Purpose: Get Ss to do some exercise to consolidate what they have learned. 作业

Purpose: To get Ss to have knowledge of the grammar through exercises. 在分类呈现V-ing形式做主语和宾语的规律，并做了一定的练习后，让学生通读老师的总结，可以帮助他们梳理语法知识，有条理地进行强化记忆。在以后的教学中，可以补充更多的V-ing形式做主语和宾语的练习，让学生逐步掌握这一语法现象。
