Lesson31

Teaching aims:

①Knowledge aim:

Students can understand and speak out the new words in right tone. Words: small, big. Sentences: Look at the elephant. It has big ears.

②Ability aim:

Students can say the sentences in real life and sing the English song.

③Emotion aim:

Cultivate the good habit of observing things carefully and a sense of teamwork.

Important points: words: big, small.

Difficult point: sentences: Look at the elephant. It has big ears.

Teaching tools: multimedia, pictures, word cards, stickers.

Teaching steps:

Step1: Warm-up\ Revision.

① Sing an English song “Teddy Bear”.

② TPR.

T: Touch your eyes.

Ss: Eyes, eyes, eyes. (Touch their eyes)

T: Touch your ears.

Ss: Ears, ears, ears. (Touch their ears)

T: Touch your nose.

Ss: Nose, nose, nose. (Touch their nose)

T: Touch your face.

Ss: Face, face, face. (Touch their face)

T: Open your mouth.

Ss: Mouth, mouth, mouth. (Open their mouth.)

T: ….

Step2: Presentation.

① Show a picture of an elephant and a mouse:

T: Look at the elephant. It’s big. Look at the mouse. It’s small. Teach “big and small”.

Ss: Say “big/ small”. T: Show some pictures which are bigger and bigger/ smaller and smaller. Ss: It’s big./ It’s small. ② Sing a song“ The opposite song”.

③ Show pictures and teach “big eyes and small eyes”.

④ Show a picture of “monkey” and a “pig”. Teach “Look at the monkey. It has a big mouth.”/ “Look at the pig. It has a small mouth.”

⑤Play a chain game. S1: Look at the elephant. S2: It has big ears. S2: Look at the monkey. S3: It has big eyes. S3: Look at…. S4: …. ⑥Play the cartoon of lesson31. T: What animals can you see in the cartoon? ⑤

Play the cartoon of lesson31 again. T: What’s it like? Step3: Practice.

Play the tape and ask pupils to listen to the new dialogue carefully. ②

Ask them to open their books and listen to the tape again, read and imitate the tape carefully. ③

Listen and read sentence by sentence. ④

Practice the dialogue in groups and act it out.

Give stickers to the best group.

Step4: Production.

Make a new dialogue in groups and act it out.

S1: Hi, Peter! It’s nice/fine today!

Let’s go to the zoo.

S2: OK! S1: Wow! Look at the….

It’s so big/small/beautiful.

S2: Look! It has big eyes/ears….

S1: And a small nose. / And small eyes. Give stickers to the best group. Step5: Summary and assessment. The best group will get the trophy.

Step6: Homework. ① Review the new words and read the dialogue. ② Sing the new song to their parents.

Step7: Blackboard design: Unit6. I’m tall. Lesson31 Look at the elephant.
