Step 1

Lead in Watch a small video about the week and answer the questions. 1.

How many days are there in a week? 2.

What are they? 3.

How to ask about the week? What day is it today? It’s Tuesday.

Show a calendar and then ask the students what else can they see on the calendar. They can see the dates. How to ask about the date? What’s the date today? It’s April 23rd. Step2 Pre-listening 1.

Draw a calendar on the blackboard and then ask students to write the dates for this week on the calendar. 2.

Make some word cards with the words and phrases(today,

tomorrow,yesterday,the

day before yesterday,the day after tomorrow,weekday, weekend) on them. Then ask students to put up the word cards below the correct dates on the calendar.

This can increase students’ interest. 3.

Pair work. Ask and answer questions about the days on the calendar. -What’s today?

-It’s Monday the 14th. -What’s tomorrow?

-It’s Tuesday the 15th. -What’s the day after tomorrow?

-It’s Wednesday the 16th. 4.

Show a small calendar and let students ask and answer something about it. This part is used to practice the three main sentences. Step 3

While-listening 1.

Listen. Can Vince play tennis with Andy? Circle Yes or No. Play the recording only once. 2.

Listen again. Match Vince’s activities with the days. Play the recording twice and remind students to pay attention to the key information to improve their listening ability. 3.

Fill in the blanks according to 1e. This part is used to check whether the students have got the main idea of the recording.
