三、教学过程

Step 1

Leading in

Share a video shot by students and present the main structure. Here is the text of lead-in conversation: A: Hey, guys! Can you come to my birthday party this Saturday night? B: Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m not available. I have too much homework and my mom doesn’t allow me to hang out on weekends.

A: That’s too bad. Maybe next time.

B: Anyway, happy birthday to you! A: Thank you so much. So, how about you? C: I’d love to! By the way,

what’s today?

I’m too busy to remember the date. A: It’s Tuesday, June 11th.

C: Okay, see you then. A: See ya! . Step 2

Review 1.

Review the days of the week and the words today, yesterday, tomorrow,

the day before yesterday and the day after tomorrow

by translation. After checking the answers, ask students to read the words aloud. 周一

Show the basic rules of transforming cardinals into ordinals. Fill in the charts with correct form of numerals. Check the answers. 基变序，有规律，词尾加上th; 一二三，特殊记，词尾字母t，d，d; 八去t，九除e，ve要用f替; ty将y变成i，th前面有个e; 若是碰到几十几，前用基来后用序。

Step 3

Presentation

1.

Show the days of the week in a large monthly calendar. Point out at the top of the calendar and ask a student to read these words aloud. Ask a student to point out today’s date, tomorrow’s date, the day after tomorrow’s date and the day before yesterday’s date.

Make sentences using the basic structure when looking at the

calendar.

Step 4

Listening

1.

1d Listen. Can Vince play tennis with Andy? 2.

1e Listen again. Match Vince’s activities with the days in 1d.

Fill in the blanks according to 1e.

Step 5

Practice 1.

Do a survey. Invite at least 3 students to come to your party, then find

out who can come and who can’t come. Write down the reasons. 2.

Give a report. Present your report according to the survey results.

Here is an example:

I invited some of my classmates to come to my birthday party. Lily will come. However, Nina can't come, because she has a flu recently, so she has to stay at home and have good rest. And Kevin can't come, either. He said he has too much homework to do and he must study for an English test. Oh, what a pity!

Step 6

Homework 1. Write an invitation (a party or any other event) to your deskmate. 2. Reply to your deskmate's invitation. If you turn down the invitation, give a good reason .
