2.1 Teaching material The material of this class is the reading part of Unit4 Section A, Grade9 of Go For It for Chinese compulsory education. The article is a brief biography written by the interviewer, and the interviewee is an Asian pop star, Candy Wang. It mainly talks about how Candy has changed.

2.2 Teaching condition The learners of this class are from Meixi Middle School, a middle school in a town. Therefore, my students have a foundation of English, as well as an ability to express themselves in English. They are also interested in group work, so they will be easily activated through talking activities and group works.

3. Teaching focuses & anticipated difficulties

3.1 Teaching focuses (1) Use the following words, such as interview, dare, require, private, shyness, etc. (2) Use the phrase “used to” to describe a person in the past. (3) Be clear about the structure of a brief biography. 3.2 Anticipated difficulties (1) Guess words’ meanings with the help of common sense and context. (2) Imitate the article and write a short brief about Roy Wang. (3) Be aware of the difficulties of the road to success but make their minds to fight on.

4. Teaching objectives 4.1 Language knowledge

At the end of this class, the Ss will be able to: (1) Use the following words, such as interview, dare, require, private, shyness, etc. (2) Use the phrase “used to” to describe a person in the past. (3) Be clear about the structure of a brief biography.

4.2 Language skills 1

At the end of this class, the Ss will be able to: (1) Find proper nouns quickly by focusing on italics and capital letters. (2) Guess words’ meanings with the help of common sense and context. (3) Get the main ideas of each paragraph by focusing on key words. (4) Imitate the article and write a short brief about Roy Wang.
