【教材分析】

In this unit, students are able to talk about the TV shows they know and they are willing to watch. They can also make a plan to watch a kind of TV show and express their reasons using different description words and phrases. Also, they get to know the time line can help them understand a story. After listening, speaking and reading, they are able to write a short movie review. In this lesson, students are able to use the time line to help themselves understand and remember an article about a cartoon. After reading and talking about the article, students are able to use what they learned and knew to move forward to talk about their own ideas about cartoon characters. 【学情分析】

The students have learned English for more than one year. They can express their thought and communicate with each other in English simply, not very well. They have already had some reading skills. And they have already talked about TV shows in several lessons. Many Ss may know something about the cartoon character Mickey Mouse, but they don’t know its creator and history. Most of the things above can help them read the long passage. In this class, they will have a better understanding of this cartoon character with the new reading strategy. Aso they can learn some good qualities of the creator and the character. 【教学目标】

In this lesson, Ss need to master the new words character, successful, appear and so on, which have something to do with their understanding of the passage. At the same time, they will learn the reading strategy: using the time line to help understand the history of Mickey. 2. Ability objective 能力目标

Ss will improve their abilities of reading by using the new reading strategy. They can develop their abilities of communication by introducing the cartoon character with the information they get from the passage. 3. Strategy goals 策略目标

1）Ss can learn English from a long passage by using the new reading strategy.

2）Ss can learn English by reading comprehension and getting information from the passage. 4．Culture Awareness 文化目标

Ss can know about a famous cartoon character’s history and its creator. Ss know the good personality of the cartoon characters. 5. Sensibility objectives 情感目标

Ss will enjoy foreign cartoons. Ss know the good personality of the cartoon characters can also improve their own personality.

Designing Intention T asks Ss about their Ss answer 1).To introduce one of favorite cartoon and questions. the topic :

2 Before-reading T shows pictures and asks Ss look at the Ss questions. pictures and get

some simple information of Mickey. While-reading 1).T gets the Ss to read the passage quickly and find out the answes to a question. 2).T has Ss to read again and fill in the time line. 3).T has Ss read the passage more carefully and find out more details. 4).T gets Ss to read again and answer more difficult questions. T asks Ss to use the mind-map to help them share opinions about their favorite cartoon characters

2 To let Ss know something about what they will read.

To get Ss to read the passage 4 times during which they will learn to use the new reading strategy and get a better understanding of the passge.

3 1).Ss read and answer the question. 2).Ss read again and fill in the time line. 3).Ss read for the third time and underline the details. 4).Ss read again and answer more difficult questions. Ss work in group of four and share the cartoon characters using the mind map. 4 Post-reading (group work ) To help Ss use the mind map to talk about their favorite cartoon characters.
