教材分析

本课选自《新标准英语》三年级起始三年级下册Module2 Unit2 That man is short.通过Sam和Daming看到演员后的对话，重点教会学生形容词tall, short, big, small, fat, thin及描述动物外形的英语表达方式和句型，“This...is...”/“That...is...”本单元主要学习运用恰当的形容词描述某人或某物的特征。

Step1. Warming-up. 1.

Let’s chant: Activity1 of Unit1. 3.

Guessing game: listen to the sounds of some animals and guess: What’s this?

Students use “It’s a/an .... ”to answer.

Step2. Lead-in 1.

Show some pictures to review the sentence patterns:

What are they? They’re...

Task presentation: Students have brought the pictures in the zoo.

T: Do you know how to describe their features? Ss: No.

学过今天的课文，大家就知道该怎样描述了。

看了这么多有趣的小动物，同学们想不想看个表演呢?

Use the show to lead and lead words: tall, short

Step3.Presentation&Practice 1.

Show cards of tall and short to let ss read. Ask little teachers to teach.

Ride a train to practice the words. Then lead ss to say:

This boy is tall.

That boy is short.

PPT shows a picture. Guide ss to say:

This man is tall. That man is short. Learn the word ”man”.

Present cards to learn thin and fat. Use gestures to help ss learn.

T: Look, this man is tall and thin. That man is short and fat.

PPT shows more pictures to practice thin and fat.

eg: This monkey is thin. That monkey is fat.

Show two balls to teach big and small. More pictures to practice.

5.

Game: I say you do. Teacher says the new words. Students do actions.

Then ask some students to do actions. Let other students guess the words. 6.

Chant: Big, big, big, the lion is big. Small, small, small, the cat is small.

Fat, fat, fat, the panda is fat.

Thin, thin, thin, the monkey is thin.

Watch the cartoon of activity2.
