T: Do you like watching movies? What kind of movies do you know?

(采用头脑风暴的形式回顾关于电影类型的词汇，并拓展romance, science fiction, tragedy, documentary 四个新词汇。) Show some pictures which are about the movies that the teacher watched. (展示的电影图片是课前经过调查学生所熟悉的。)

T: I like watching movies and I watched some movies these days. Let’s talk about them. Questions:

(1) What kind of movies did I watch? Do you know what the movie is about? (2) What can I expect to learn from the movies? (3) Do you know the actor/actress? What do you think of him/her? (4) What do you think of these movies? (5) What movies do you plan to watch? Why?

Ss: Yes, I do. T: Who can tell us something about her? S1: Mulan didn’t have any brothers. She took his father’s place to fight in the army. S2: Mulan dressed up like a boy. Nobody knew she was a girl in the army. (学生如不能用英语表达也可使用汉语。) （设计意图：鼓励和引导学生谈论自己所了解的花木兰，激活学生的背景知识。）

T: Let’s see some movie posters about Mulan.

T: Are you familiar with the actors? Who are they? What do you think of them?

2. Fill in the blanks短文填空

T: There is a cartoon picture of Mulan on P39. And there is an article. Read quickly and find out what it is talking about.

(学生通读短文掌握大意。) T: It’s a movie review about Mulan. Writing a movie review is a great way of expressing your opinion of a movie. The purpose of most reviews is to help the reader in determining （决定）whether they want to watch, rent or buy the movie.

1.Write an outline拟定提纲

Help the Ss make sure the composition must include the following things before they start to write their own movie reviews. The name of the movie: My favorite movie is …

The kind of movie: It is a/an … movie. What the movie is about: The movie is about…

What you think of the stars/movie: I think the actor/actress… I like/dislike…The movie…

Suggestions: If you plan to watch a movie this weekend, and you want to see something enjoyable, choose…

Tense: the simple present tense and the simple past tense. (一起学习写作要求和注意事项，引导学生关注篇章结构和语篇标记词汇，帮助学生整理写作信息。程度差点的同学可以根据提纲直接补充内容。同时鼓励有能力的学生创新思维，丰富写作内涵。) 2.Write the first draft起草初稿

T: I will give you several minutes to write your own movie review down. Choose one student to write his/her movie review on the blackboard. 3. Revise the first draft修改初稿

After all the students finish writing, first check the composition on the blackboard with all the students according to the following evaluation scale. Is there the name of the movie?

Is there the kind of the movie?

Does he/she mention what the movie is

about? Does he/she mention what he/she thinks of

the movie/stars? Does he/she use the simple present tense and

the simple past tense? Are there any grammatical mistakes?

Choose several students to evaluate the composition item by item in the evaluation scale. 4. Ask the Ss to check their own compositions according to the above evaluation scale.
