Unit 9 Can you come to my party? (Section B 1a-2a) Student: The students of Grade 8 Teaching Content: 1. PEP edition, Go For it for Junior middle school students, Book 1,Grade 8.

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1: Lead in (5 mins) Greet the ss , and show a video about party. Activity: Divide the ss into 4 groups and have ss use can to invite and respond others politely, one point will be given to the excellent group. (Design idea：Review the usage of “can” and build the relation between old and new knowledge.) 1

Step 2: (15 mins) 1. Show some pictures of calendar and ask ss to turn to Page68. Finish 1a. (Design idea : Create the scene and check if ss have prepared for it.) 2.Ask ss What day is it today? What’s the date today ? Introduce what’s today? Answer it by myself. Then ask What’s tomorrow? What’s the day after tomorrow? Let ss guess what’s the meaning of the day after tomorrow. In the same way ,teach the day before yesterday. Activity: Number the ss of each group in line, then the T chooses phrase from 1b, and call the number. Ss with the number stand as quickly as possible. The first to answer correctly wins one point.

Review the words learnt in Step 2. （2）

Have the ss look at the picture in 1d , give some questions. T: Who is the boy?

S:He is Andy. T: What is he doing? S: He is playing football/studying for the test/looking after his sisiter. Show the phrases on the blackboard. T: Does he want to invite his friend? S: Yes. T:How do we invite others? Lead into the sentence “Can you ….?” “Sure, I’d love to.”

(Design idea: Lead into the new knowledge by scene-activity teaching method, this method can make listening much easier.) While-listening: （1）

Listen for the first time without writing, have the ss know what happened in the dialogue. （2）

Listen for the second time and circle Yes or No. （3）

Listen for the third time and fill the gaps in 1d.

(Design idea: Enable the ss to understand every word in their daily exercise and develop the habit of listening.) Post-listening: （1）

Review the difference between “when” and

“what time”, and make sentences with them. （2）

Check the answers. Activity：Ask ss to make some cards with date in 1b and phrases in 1d, and hand out the cards to ss .Have ss to make up dialogue with deskmates according to 1f. One point will be given to the excellent group. Finish 1d-1f (Design idea : Apply something new to daily conversations in time, it’s useful for ss.) Summary: I will help ss to review phrases and sentences we have learnt today. (5 mins ) Homework: For normal ss: Finish 2a and make up a dialogue in 1f.
