U5 Do you want to watch a game show? 2d-3c 1 Teaching Background. The first part of my presentation is teaching background, which includes teaching material analysis, students analysis and teaching objectives.

First, let me introduce teaching material. The topic of this unit is about TV shows. Obviously, different kinds of TV shows are talked in this class. It is a easy topic which can draw students’ attention.

As for Ss, the Ss in junior 2，they have already known some English knowledge. But most of Ss don’t have enough confidence in speaking English and they lack awareness of cooperation and interests in reading English passage. Thus I will design activities to improve their ability in speaking English, awareness in cooperating. According to the analysis on teaching material and Ss, I have set 3 teaching objectives for this class. Firstly, knowledge objectives. By learning in this class, over 90 percent of Ss can understand this whole conversation and grammar, and Ss can get some basic knowledge of TV shows and infinitive. Besides, most of Ss can master some key words in the passage, e.g.news, educational,expect ..

Secondly, ability objectives. Ss can briefly talk about TV shows in English. They can talk about their likes and dislikes by using different adjectives. Thirdly, emotion objectives. The teaching in this class can set up Ss confidence in learning English and they can be aware of the importance of cooperation. Most importantly, Ss will know how to live a healthy lifestyle, watch some beneficial TV shows, and most importantly, don’t be addicted to watching TV. On account of teaching objectives and analysis on teaching material and Ss, the key points in this class are helping Ss fully understand this conversation and improve their reading abilities. While the difficulties come to learn the infinitive works as object in sentences. 2 Teaching and Learning Methods To achieve teaching objectives better, emphasize key points and break through the difficult points, I will make use of Task-based Teaching Approach to get Ss more interested in learning English. Communicative teaching approach will be used to improve Ss ability in speaking English. And the cooperative learning method is a good way to develop Ss awareness of cooperation. The most important teaching tool in this class is multi-media. Because I will show some pictures,radio and excercises on the power point.

Teaching procedures: Greetings Step 1 Review

In the part,pictures are used to help students review the key words they have learned last class. They are news, sitcom, sports show, game show, talent show, soap opera and talk show. In this way, students’

interest is aroused.

Then the question what do you think of ....? is used to get students’

opinions about different kinds of TV shows. A short video of an famous actress who can speak English really well in a talk show is going to be played for the students. Students’

will in learning English well is stimulated.

Step 2 2d 1.

Play the radio for the class so that they can obtain the main idea of the conversation and learn the pronunciation as well. 2.

All the class is divided into two parts, team boy and team girl. They get different roles and read the conversation. 3.

Five basic questions for them to check if they obtain the main idea of the conversation. 4.

Discussion--- students discuss in the group to get a general information of the conversation. This task can improve students’

ability in making conclusion and cooperating with their team

members. 5.

Game time--words game. The atmosphere of the class is easy, nice and funny. Through playing, they can learn and review. Step 3

Grammar Focus 6.

Team boy and team girl read all the sentences in the Grammar Focus part. 7.

Infinitive can work as different parts in sentences, examples are given to give them a good introduction at the very beginning. 8.

Then students are asked to focus on infinitive works as object in sentences. The form ,common words and some special situation for example skip to are introduced for them. 9.

In this part, practice can make them understand the grammar well. They are asked to make sentences, finish 3a, 3b and 3c. 10.

To develop their writing skill and improve their creativity. Students are supposed to use expect TV shows and a friend, these three words to make a story. Step 4 Homework

1.Practice the useful sentences in grammar focus. 2. Master and recite the conversation and words in this unit. Teaching Reflection:

After class, students have set a basic knowledge about TV shows.They can understand the conversation and infinitive well.

Their interest and confidence in English learning are pushed and they want to try their best in learning and speaking English after class.
