passage

n.

e.g. The teacher spent an hour in explaining this passage.

Choose the correct order of the following sentences to form a passage.

2. My parents were completely shocked!

completely adv.

e.g. I understand completely.

shocked

adj.

e.g. She was so shocked that she could hardly say a word.

3. My parents did not talk after that, and we finished the rest of our dinner in silence.

without speaking or making a sound;

silently

e.g. Many patients were waiting in silence.

A hundred and fifty reporters sat in silence.

4. … most Americans remember what they were doing when the World Trade Center

in New York was taken down by terrorists.

此句中was taken down是被动语态。 They’re talking about how to take that wall down.

5. She remembers working in her office near the two towers.

1) towers

2) remember doing something 表示“记得曾经做过某事” ;

remember to do sth.

e.g. I remembered tuning off the lights when I left the room.

Remember to turn off the lights when you leave the room.

6. I didn’t believe him at first.

but, afterwards, soon, at last 等相呼应。

e.g. At first I didn’t want to go, but soon I changed my mind.

Step 5 Free talk Look at the picture and talk about what they were doing when the plane hit the

World Trade Center.
