Teaching steps:

Step 1.Lead-in I will show a picture of calendar. Students should look at it carefully and they will answer

Step 2. Presentation

(1) Activity 1a, ask students to write the dates for this week on the calendar,and check the answers.

(2) Activity 1b, I will invite some students to read these words in 1b one by one and ask them to write the words below the correct dates on the calendar in 1a. And check the answers. In the end, I will draw a conclusion that Sunday, Saturday are weekends, Monday to Friday, all these words are weekdays.

(3) Activity IC, I will ask students to make sentences with words in the chart. There is an example.

----It’s Monday the 14th.

Students work in pairs and try to make more conversations according to the model. Then I will invite 4 pairs to share their conversations.

Finally I will show the key sentences and ask students to read

the key sentences togethers. Step 3. Listening

Finish 1d. Play the tape the first time, the students should finish 1c to circle Yes or No. Before listening, I will tell students it is a conversation between Andy and Vince. And Andy is asking Vince to play tennis with him. I will ask them to think Vince can play tennis with Andy or not when they are listening. After listening , check the answers. Finish 1e. Play the tape the second time ,I will ask students to match Vince’s activities with the days in 1d. After listening ,check the answers . Finally ask students to report Vince’s schedule for these days ,and share together. Step 4. Group work In this step, I will present a picture of new movie and ask students “Do you want to watch movies?” Work in groups , try to find out who can go to the movies with you , and act it out.

For example: A: Hi, Chen Wei. There are a few new movies. Can you go to the movies with me today? B: Sorry, I can’t. I have to …

A: What about you, Li Ming? C: I’m afraid not, I have to…

A: What about you, Jenny? D:Sure,I’d love to.

A:In our group, only Jenny can go to the movies with me because Chen Wei has to ______, Li Ming has to ______, I will go to the movies with Jenny.
