Teaching procedures Step one: warming up 1.Greetings(talk about weather ) 2.Show pictures of a baby and A mother (T:Dear students,at school I am a teacher,but at home I am a mother. Please look at a group of pictures. Tell me what is she doing.) Picture 1(happy : laugh) Picture 2(unhappy : cry) 3.Free talk What will you do if you are unhappy or have problems ? After this class, maybe you can get the answer . Step 2 :Presentation 1.

Show some pictures of different problems and encourage students to speak out aloud. In the meanwhile , students are

expected to think about the results of the problems 2.

Ask one student to act as a teacher and lead others to read the phrases together. 3.

Challenge your memory and eyesight When the teacher shows part of the pictures,students are supposed to say the problems as quickly as possible 4.

Listening practise Two students are talking about their problems. Do you want to know what troubles them ? Let’s listen to them. Before listening: read the sentences , then circle the key words . While listening: pay attention to the key words. After listening: check the answers and read the conversations together. 5.

Language points Read the conversation again. Pay attention to the sentence “why don’t you....?”. Then the teacher explain it to the class.(The sentence is used to give advice) Step three: Practise 1.

The teacher and one student act the conversation in front of the class. 2.

Group work

Divide the class into 4 groups and give them 3 minutes to prepare their new conversations. Here I have some problems on the board.can you give some advice? Sample : A:what’s wrong with you ? B : I have too much homework and always feel sleepy in class. A: why don’t you talk to your teachers? 3.

PK game (pair work) Encourage students to present their conversations . their conversations determined by topics on the board. Each group can get 3 points if they act in front of the class. Step four: Summary Have the students do the summary job of this class, including language points , ability aims and emotion aims. At last, the teacher decide the winner according to their behaviour. Step five: Homework Group A: do a survey about “what will students do when they have problems?” in their group Group B: recite the conversations in the book Group C: recite new word and important phrases.
